DOMAINE KUENTZ-BAS

Maison KUENTZ-BAS in Husseren-les-Châteaux, the highest village on the Alsace Wine Route, is located at the foot of the "Three Castles" of Eguisheim, 8 km south of Colmar. For more than 200 years, you can discover authentic and real wines, made using traditional methods.

 Domaine Kuentz-Bas

The activity of the KUENTZ family began in 1795. When it was created, it sold its wines to restaurateurs throughout Alsace and the Vosges and in 1894 built a new large cellar still in use today. A marriage brought together the KUENTZ and BAS families who combine their names and make the vineyard prosper. It was in 2004 that Jean-Baptiste Adam took over the estate to perpetuate the tradition of the House and the promotion of Alsatian viticulture. Under his management, the vines are cultivated biodynamically. The wines are aged in oak casks more than a hundred years old which allow perfect micro-oxygenation, or in stainless steel vats to preserve the fruit, depending on the selections.

The terroirs are predominantly clay-limestone on which vines 25 to 45 years old flourish. Many plots are located on the Grands Crus Eichberg and Pfersigberg, highly sought after by amateurs and discerning gourmets.

These terroirs, combined with natural vinification, allow the elaboration of elegant wines, respecting the typicity of the grape varieties cultivated with care. Each wine tasted reveals its own personality and best reflects its grape variety or its terroir depending on its origin and its range.

Tours of the century-old cellar as well as tastings are offered in French, German and English. The opportunity to discover the philosophy of the estate!
