DOMAINE MATHIAS
Béatrice and Gillas Mathias, winemakers in Chaintré, use Organic Farming to produce wines typical of the Burgundy region, different each year according to the moods of Mother Nature. From sustainable viticulture, they converted their 10 hectares of vines to organic viticulture. No weedkiller, no chemical fertilizer, no synthetic pesticides, in accordance with organic production methods. Only sulfur and Bordeaux mixture are authorized to fight against vine diseases. Focusing on quality, their production is carefully crafted and bottled at the estate. In their range, great appellations such as Pouilly-Fuissé.

For the record, Marie-Magdeleine Charvet, daughter of Antoine Charvet who obtained in 1894 a diploma from the Scientific Industrial Agricultural and Viticultural Union for her white wine harvested in the town of Chaintré, married Claude Mathias and continued to operate the family vineyard. Two generations later, Jean Mathias began to sell his wine in bottles to gradually ensure the direct sale of the entire harvest. He created Domaine Mathias as it is known today. Jean and his wife Andrée will have four children including a son Gilles who is pursuing wine studies in order to take over the estate. Gilles married Béatrice Prost in 1990. Both took over the management of Domaine Mathias in 1992. They pass on their passion for their profession on a daily basis to their children: Elodie, Thibault, Antoine and Hugo so that one of them take up the torch and carry on the family tradition.

The couple will be happy to welcome you to the property to tell you about the history of Domaine Mathias and make you taste their wines. You can also find them at the Vignerons Indépendants shows each year.
