CHÂTEAU CLOS MIGNON

Château Clos Mignon, in the heart of the Fronton appellation of origin, has existed for over a century. It is located on the historic terroir of Villaudric characterized by its poor and dry, gravelly soils, its very fine alluvial sands, and its pebbles, which give a particular intensity to the wines they produce. The estate covers more than fifty hectares, including 20ha of vines. The vineyard is planted with four grape varieties, Négrette (exclusive to Fronton), Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon and Syrah.

Wines from the Fronton and Villaudric region, neighboring towns, were previously highly appreciated by Bordeaux merchants. The wine then traveled by barges via the Canal du Midi. Thus, from 1884, the wine of Château Clos Mignon, bearing the name "Vins des Côtes de Villaudric" at the time, obtained a gold medal in Bordeaux.

It was in 1952 that Roger Muzart arrived at the château, becoming the first Muzart to own the estate. With the help of his sons, he will perpetuate the excellence of the vineyard and the wine. In 1990, their work was rewarded in Paris, with the Gold Medal of the Concours Général Agricole obtained for the Château Clos Mignon - red 1988. Ten years later, another gold medal for the Château Clos Mignon - red 1998 greeted the arrival of Olivier Muzart, third generation at the head of the vineyard.

The love and passion for wine has been in the veins of the Muzart family for 3 generations now. They strive to work with respect for the environment, as part of a reasoned fight. In this qualitative approach, the Château Clos Mignon adheres to the quality charter "Welcome to the farm".

The team sets up events from time to time or on request, such as small concerts, readings around tastings, food and wine pairings. It is a wonderful way to make the estate known and to honor the wine that allows sharing and conviviality.
