CHÂTEAU DE MINIÈRE

CHÂTEAU DE MINIÈRE

Château de Minière is located within the AOP Bourgueil in the Loire Valley vineyards, between Tours and Saumur. The castle was acquired in 2010 by a Belgian couple, Kathleen Van den Berghe and Sigurd Mareels. Passionate about and committed to the production of high quality wines, they have inherited an exceptional terroir.

Château de Minière

Wine was introduced and developed in the Loire Valley during Roman times. This activity developed considerably at the end of the year 1000, under the leadership of the Abbey of Bourgueil, founded by Emma de Blois in 990.

At Château de Minière, Cabernet Franc is king. It evolves best in a calm and semi-continental climate like that of the Loire. The towns of Chinon and Saumur-Champigny are important historical strongholds for wines made from this grape variety; wines highly prized for their notes of red fruits and their finely spicy aromas. Among the 18 hectares of vines that make up the estate, some plots can reach 110 years!

The old 16th century tufa house and the historic park, surrounded by vineyards, offer an ideal setting for those who love nature and calm. Kathleen and her team can welcome you every day of the year for a tasting and a tour of the estate in the language of your choice: French, English, Dutch and German. Around the domain, the paths of the "Loire à Vélo" and the hiking trails are also waiting for you to spend pleasant moments. Finally, in August, the Château de Minière invites you to come and discover the bees, these little animals essential to the life of the plants that surround us.
